Ordering an Embosser for 88lb paper

Tues Mar 1, 2016
I am looking for an embosser for 88lb paper…does one exist? Or is it better to get foil seals?

Thank you for asking. There are several different types of 88lb paper. Please see our chart at: http://www.fredlake.com/images/Documents_pdf/Which%20Embosser%20Should%20I%20Use.pdf
for an idea what I mean. We have several Heavy Duty embossers that will work on pretty heavy stock.
Gold labels can be difficult to judge, as some sold are acceptable for laser printing, so have a very heavy backing.
If you need any additional information, please let me know. Thank you again, Karla – Fred Lake Co.

HI Karla,
Thank you for your reply. I am waiting for 2 logos from my marketing department; one I receive those can you help me order the right embosser? Are the embossing stamps interchangeable so I can buy one machine and use 2 stamps? I actually would like to be able to emboss the paper and a foil seal—is that possible with one machine or should I order 2? (Pila)

Any of our embossers (except the cast iron model) come complete with a seal clip. Then you can buy additional seal clips to interchange in the base, as long as they are the compatible replacement. (Karla)

Hello again Karla!
I have the logos and I am ready to order. Given that I have 88lb certificate paper do I need to send in a sample?
Is it easier for me to call to place an order or order online?
Thanks for all your help! (Pila)

Thank you for checking. I cannot take an order over the phone – too many details to make mistakes with. Online is the most efficient way, as it will walk you through all the options and choices.  Here is a link:

An in-hand paper sample is always good so that we can make certain the embosser works as well as possible.
You can send, along with a copy of this email, to:

Stamps are awesome!

Stamps are awesome! Thank you. I might need to get a couple ink pads from you as well. I bought one at Office Depot yesterday, the ink seems to be too wet or something. But it still looks very nice!

Original request:

Quick change of plans. I decided not to do the yeti. But I do have a new order I’d like to put together. I’ve attached an Indesign file for you with the separate stamps I’d like. The larger one is 2.5”x4” and the other six are names that will stamp in between the lines. The larger stamp acts as a template. ask jeeves.com . The smaller are sized appropriately to fit inside the lines.

Can I order a debossed logo seal from your company?

Hello,

I would like to order a debossing seal with my logo on it. In your site I see you have a embossing seal but do you have an debossing seal?

Also, in what file format would you need the logo?

Thank you

luiza c.

Hi Luiza!  Thank you for your inquiry!

There’s really not much difference from our perspective between embossing and debossing.

Below are a couple of examples of what most people might refer to as “debossed” images.

The male and female die plates can be designed to be inverted so that the one that is normally in the top position is installed on the bottom and vice versa.  The net result is to “push” the logo image down from the top side of the paper rather than up from the bottom side.

Please note:  most of the debossed stationery, such as shown here, is not made using hand embossers.  Commercial printers use special presses and custom die setups that are capable of applying substantially  more pressure than can be achieved with a hand held or desk embosser.

So, to answer your questions:

  • we can design any hand or desk seal to function as a “debosser” rather than an embosser
  • if a combination of the paper weight used and the debossed impression area of your logo requires more pressure than one of our professional line embossers can handle, we will work with you to offer suggestions on how to make it work.
  • we can use any “clean” black and white, line art (vector if possible), ie: pdf, eps, cdr, png

If you haven’t already, please be sure to look at the chart on our website regarding how to choose the right embosser for the paper type you will be using:
